My daughters’ U-10 soccer team, which I help coach, took first place in their division at a soccer tournament this weekend. All the girls played great. In total we played 4 games, loosing the first 3-2, the we had two shut-outs, and came back and beat the first team we played 2-1 in the final.
Great to see the girls celebrate after working so hard.

I saw this story published on C|Net, News.com.

Child wants cell phone; reception is mixed

    Here is the abstract:
“To her parents’ amusement, Hannah Stacks, a third grader in Rye, NY, started asking for her own cell phone at age 6. To their consternation, she never stopped. Last fall, after a psychologist suggested tracking her behavior, Hannah, at the sprightly age of 8, got her phone as a reward for not being mean to her little sister for 30 days.”

  • Surprise visit from the First Lady

My daughter went to on a field trip to the Ronald Reagan library, which seems to be an common thing for most schools in the area. Only, this time what was not common was that both Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush were there at the Library. This was very exciting for my daughter and the other kids from her school. What they didn’t know, however, is that later that day, Laura Bush was making a visit to her school which is about 1/2 mile from our house here.
For details you can visit my daughter’s school web site.

The new Pirates movie opens this coming weekend. It looks great. To get you in the mood, here is an awesome video of the Pirate of the Caribbean sponsored racing sailboat which competed in the Volvo Ocean Race series. Don’t know how much you know about sailboats, but this one is hauling ass.
