I couldn't believe it. Normally i come home from work and sit and watch the Tour de France on the Tivo, but the race had been getting so good and close that this morning, when i woke up, I remembered that the race was actually going on live. So i turned on the tv to catch the last 15 km or so. In other words, just in time to see Lance crash as he as making his move - then get up, then almost crash again as his foot slipped off the pedal - then proceed to blow everyone away by winning the stage.
There is still a chance that Jan Ullrich could catch him in the time trial, but it's gonna be very close.
The Tour de France has got to be the most challening sporting event there is. I can't think of anything more challenging? Can You? The Ironman triathlon is probably more grueling as a one day event, but the Tour is 23 days, and that requires much more than physical enurance to survive, which is what makes the Tour so much fun to watch.
I'm putting my money on Lance Armstrong, but not by a huge margin.
