I went sailing yesterday with a buddy of mine. He had never really been sailing on the ocean before but is the kind of guy that is willing to try something new. he was quite a trooper, but it made me realize that in the future I'll need to screen potential passengers a little better.
Here's the deal, when i go sailing, i like to make a day long event out of it. I'm lucky enough to live in a place where there is great sailing, and when I get out there it really relaxes me and I just like to enjoy the air, water, birds, other boats, simple sound of the water gurgling around the rudder when you're moving well. So I think next time I'll have to set expectations and ensure that my passenger(s) are in it for the long haul, and if necessary taken the appropriate medications.
Regardless, it was a nice day. Part of me just wanted to keep going - it's a nice downhill sail to Hawaii from here.
